Using Ellipsus on your smartphone
After installing Ellipsus on your smartphone, you’ll land on your Dashboard, where you can access all your documents and folders (My work), create something new, collaborate and add comments on work shared with you (Shared), access your Settings, or Get support.
Your Dashboard includes the bottom bar, where you can switch between:
My work: All your documents and folders.
Shared: Documents collaborators have shared with you.
+ button: From the + button, you can create new documents and folders, import Markdown files, and create docs from Ellipsus templates.
Settings: Access your settings page to choose a profile pic and username, set passwords, and change your theme.

Create a new document, folder, or template
From the Dashboard, tap the + button at the bottom center of the screen.
You can:
Create a new document
Import a Markdown (.md) file
Create a folder
Create a document from an Ellipsus template
Navigating your documents
Switching between drafts
Ellipsus supports any number drafts per document. To create drafts and navigate between them:
Tap the stacked-document icon in the top-left corner of the editor.
This will open the left sidebar showing:
Your document, and all its connected drafts
Quick navigation back to your folder or Dashboard (tap the folder name or My work at the top left.
To return to your Dashboard or your document's folder:
Inside the left sidebar, tap:
The folder name to return to its contents
My work to go back to the main dashboard
Explore the Right sidebar
Tap the three-line icon on the top right to open the right-hand sidebar, where you’ll find:
Format: Format your document.
Outline: See your document's structure and navigate to any header.
Find and replace: Search your text or replace terms.
Spell check: Toggle spell check on or off.
Comments: Comment and reply on drafts (see below).
Chat: Chat with collaborators directly inside the document. Each doc and draft has its own dedicated conversation.
Collaborators: Invite collaborators, share by link, and manage access with Permissions.
Share and export: Share view-only links, downloads, or publish directly to AO3.
Document info: See your doc's information.
Formatting your document on mobile
Formatting on mobile lives in a dedicated bottom sheet. To access the formatting tools:
In the right sidebar, select Format.
A bottom sheet appears, with:
Headings
Bold, italics, underline, strikethrough
Lists
Alignment
Code, quotes, and more!
Merge drafts on mobile
Open you draft and tap the three dots on the top right of the draft card. Tap Compare changes to open the compare screen.
Tap Main + changes to see how your current draft compares to the main document. This view will likely have some color coding:
Text highlighted in green will be added to the main document
Text highlighted in red will be removed
Text that is not highlighted will be unchanged
If you want to edit your draft before merging, tap the draft name on the left to reveal it. You can continue to edit your text in this view.
Tap Merge in the top right when you’re ready to merge your draft into the main document. Once merged, your original document will be updated with the latest changes and the current draft will be closed and set to Merged.
Commenting on mobile
Mobile comments have been redesigned to make feedback fast and easy to follow (even with multiple collaborators).
Add a comment
Create a draft from the main document
Highlight text
Tap the Comment icon in the left sidebar
Type your comment and send, reply to comments, or resolve them
Add GIFs
Open the comment input
Tap the GIFs icon
Search Giphy and select for the perfect reaction, with or without text
Read and navigate comments
Tap any comment to open a bottom sheet where you can:
Flip through threads with the navigation arrows, without losing your place
See every thread in one scrollable list by tapping View all
Filter by collaborator to see comments from everyone, comments from a specific collaborator, or only your comments
Share your work
In the left sidebar, you can:
Invite Collaborators, or share links with permissions.
Share and export, including:
Share view-only document links
Download as PDF or Markdown
Copy as HTML, Markdown, or Rich Text
Or publish directly to AO3
