Sharing via Reader link
The Reader is Ellipsus’ dedicated sharing mode for your readers. Unlike sharing with collaborators or view-only links, Reader links are designed for safely sharing finished or share-ready work with your audience (without granting collaboration/edit access).
If you’ve previously shared work using public view-only links, those links will automatically redirect to a new Reader link. Existing bookmarks and favorites will continue to work—readers won’t encounter broken or expired pages/404s.
With the Reader, you can:
Share a Reader link from the Share & export panel (with preview access anytime).
Set access levels:
Public: Anyone with the link can read.
Partial: Collaborators only.
Private: Owner only (just you).
Choose whether your text can be copied, or not.
Decide whether readers can interact by giving Props (applause) to show their love (as many times as they'd like), and Comments.
Set your theme of choice, or allow readers to choose their own theme.
Readers can see estimated reading time, and use an accessible font.
Reader comments
You can invite your readers to comment by enabling comments on your Reader link.
When comments are enabled, readers can:
Comment on your work
Reply to other comments
Like comments and replies
Choose GIFs to express reactions (because sometimes words are not enough)
You can also participate in the conversation yourself—replying, reacting, and engaging directly with your readers.
How to enable comments
Open Share & export
Select Reader link
Choose Can interact
Check Add comment
Managing comments
You stay in control of your space:
You can turn comments on or off at any time.
You can remove comments when needed
If comments are turned off, existing comments will remain visible, but no new comments can be added. (You can remove existing comments if you'd like.)
For more complex situations (e.g. harassment or Terms of Service policy violations), see our Public interactions guidelines and moderation article.
Who can comment?
Readers must be signed in to Ellipsus to comment. They can sign up or log in directly from the Reader view.
How will I receive notifications for comments and replies?
You will see comment, reply, and moderation notifications in the notification center. (Email notifications are in-progress.)
What happens to old public links?
If you’ve shared a public link before, no problem—older public links will safely redirect to the new Reader view. (You can opt out of the new format if you'd like.)
Nothing private will become public, and your collaborator permissions will stay exactly as they are.
