Ellipsus Errors

"Whoopsie Doodle" or "Something went wrong"

If you see a pop-up that says "Whoopsie Doodle" or “Something went wrong,” don’t panic—your work is safe. This error usually comes down to device storage or browser issues, and can often be resolved quickly.

First, check that you have enough available storage on your device. Ellipsus uses local storage in your browser to keep your changes safe before syncing them to our servers. If you're running low, freeing up some space might help.

If you have plenty of storage available, try the following steps:

  1. Try incognito/private mode. Open Ellipsus in an incognito (private browsing) window to see if the issue persists.
  2. Switch browsers. Open Ellipsus in a different browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari) to check if the error is browser-specific.
  3. Download your data (just in case). From your Settings page, download your stored data as a precautionary backup.
  4. After that, clear the cache and site data for your primary browser.
  5. If the issue still persists, try restarting your machine.

If the error seems connected to syncing problems (e.g. drafts appearing blank, sync indicator errors), see our full sync issues guide for additional steps.
