If a document/draft looks blank when you open it, don’t panic—this is most likely syncing hiccup. Ellipsus stores everything locally in your browser, while syncing makes sure updates carry across devices. This means your text should be safe.
TABLE OF CONTENTS
Why is this happening?
When you create a draft, Ellipsus copies the content from your main document as it exists on the server. If your main doc hasn’t synced to the server yet, the draft may be created from a “blank” version—even though your writing is still available locally.
This can happen if:
You just created a document and started typing before it synced.
Your sync connection failed temporarily.
The synchronizer is under heavy load (e.g. during an incident).
What to do if your work is blank
Check whether your work is synced.
Look at the sync indicator at the top of your document.
If it says
Saved Locally, your changes haven’t reached the server yet.
Confirm your content is safe.
Right-click your Ellipsus tab and select Duplicate, or paste the doc URL in a new tab.
In the new tab, see if your latest edits appear.
Open Version History and check whether your updates are saved there.
Trigger a sync.
If your edits look good in the duplicate tab, refresh your original tab to push the sync through.
Try some general troubleshooting.
Switch networks (Wi-Fi → cellular, or try a hotspot).
Disable VPNs, blockers, or extensions that may be interfering.
Open the doc in another browser to check if syncing works better there.
