While we try to ensure that Ellipsus works across as wide of a range of environments as possible, there are some conditions that are known to cause issues.
Samsung / Firefox
There are a myriad of odd, small glitches and performance issues that only occur with the combination of Samsung devices (especially when using the Samsung keyboard) and Firefox. Many of these have been documented on other sites and apps as well, although they may be more readily apparent in Ellipsus. While we hope to improve some of these issues, our recommendation in the meantime is to try another browser and see if your experience improves there.
Firefox + PWAs
Firefox has a long history of support issues for PWAs. Our recommendation is to try a different browser if you're having PWA trouble with Firefox.
Browser extensions/add-ons
- DarkReader causes visual glitches, lag, and other performance issues
- uBlock (all versions) causes substantial lag and synchronizer issues
- Other privacy/blocking extensions that restrict or screen connections may also cause synchronizer issues and/or lag
- Autotabdiscard and other extensions that put inactive tabs to sleep cause synchronizer problems and can cause permanent data loss
Bluetooth keyboards
Many uncommon brands of bluetooth keyboards have been reported to contribute to input lag that is especially noticeable in Ellipsus when using older mobile devices or those with lower hardware specs.
Screen readers and other assistive technologies
Screen reader function has been reported to vary greatly depending on the device specifications, specific tool in use, and whether you are in the editor or a Reader link. Many users have reported better results for Reader links.
We have plans to improve this functionality and hope to implement a native option in the future.
