Downloading your work

Modified on Fri, 17 Jul at 2:45 PM

If you want to keep a local version of your writing, either to share or as a backup, you can export your document or draft.

How to download a document/draft:

  1. Navigate to the document or draft you would like to download
  2. Click/tap Share and export in the right sidebar
  3. Click/tap Download as and select your desired format

Ellipsus currently supports three formats to download your individual documents and drafts:

  • .docx: .docx files preserve most rich text formatting, including headings, paragraph spacing, text styling, and images, and comments.

  • PDF: Your PDF download includes links, styling, formatting, and images.

  • Markdown (.md): Markdown is a simple markup language. Some formatting elements and images won’t be included in your .md file.

Note: page numbers are not preserved in downloads, and comments are not included in PDF or markdown exports.

Downloading a document only includes the main document—not its drafts—and bulk/automated downloads are not currently possible.
