How safe is my data?

Modified on Wed, 15 Jul at 11:34 AM

Ellipsus was founded on principles of user autonomy and privacy. This means we only access stored work in exceptional circumstances, e.g. recovering lost data—and always with explicit user consent beforehand.

As a company founded and based in Germany, we are fully compliant with GDPR, which explicitly prohibits such practices without user consent. GDPR also mandates transparency, user rights, and data minimization (which align with our values and how we operate).

You can read more on our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

What security measures do you have in place?

  • Documents and drafts are currently encrypted at-rest (e.g. where it is stored in Ireland)
  • We use secure transfer protocols (HTTPs) to transport data between your devices and our servers

How do I know you’re not going to sell my data?

We’ve all been burned by enshittification, so we’ve made it clear in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy what we won’t do.

Ellipsus has a strict policy against selling user data—and that’s not just because we are deeply against predatory practices. As a company founded and based in Germany, we are fully compliant with GDPR, which explicitly prohibits such practices without user consent.

Under no circumstances will your personal information or creative work be sold for marketing or other non-functional purposes.
