In Ellipsus, outlines provide a structured overview of your document. You can access your outline in the editor, in focus mode, and in view-only links.
Use headings to create outlines
Outlines are automatically generated based on the headlines in your documents. The Heading 1 style will always be the most prominent item in your outline, followed by Heading 2, Heading 3, and Heading 4.
Whenever you change a heading’s style or its text, its position / content will automatically be updated in the outline.
Use outlines to navigate your work
Your outlines are interactive—click on any item in your outline to jump to that section of your document. This is especially useful when you’re managing extra-large documents.
If your outline itself is quite long and uses multiple heading types, you can click the arrow next to Heading 1, Heading 2, and Heading 3 sections to collapse or expand them.
Share documents with outlines
Outlines aren’t just useful for you and your collaborators—readers can use them too!
If you enable link-sharing for your document, anyone with the link can access a view-only version of your document. They can access the outline next to your document title to get an at-a-glance view of your document.
Just want their input on a specific section? Right-click on any section in your outline to copy a direct link.
